A promise made is a debt unpaid.

So in a moment of madness, about six months ago, whilst plans for my workshop were taking place, I agreed with my dear wife that when I got my workshop all set up I would do some decorating in the house.

At the time I had no idea that redundancy was in the offing, and I casually imagined a Saturday morning painting a wall or two in the spare bedroom.

A promise made is a debt unpaid. – Robert W. Service

How things change. That promise is now being called upon to to be paid – in full and with interest!

Hence no video this Friday (or over the next few days) as I am neck-deep in magnolia and white paint as we blitz the entire house (starting upstairs). The carpet layer is turning up on Thursday so we have a deadline that I must not miss.

So, apologies from me and Benny, who is (as you can see in the video above) very concerned about the lack of video; most of it is in its raw state I just don’t have the free time to edit it at this very moment.

But perhaps the wait will be worth it, although only you will be able to decide that!

  1. That’s a quote perfectly cut from context and repurposed. Sam McGee would have appreciated the art of it. I’ve just discovered you on youtube and have been reading all that you have to offer as I learn about a new hobby I didn’t know I needed.

  8. I feel your pain. When I think of the unpaid debts I have to my name as a result of such promises, I shudder with shame. Happy decorating (if that’s possible).
